Holy Angel University in Angeles City - Philippines

In 1933, Holy Angel Academy was established through the efforts of the late Archbishop Pedro Santos, who was then serving as the parish priest of the town Angeles and eventually became Archbishop of Caceres, and a prominent businessman by the name of Don Juan Nepomuceno.

Holy Angel Academy was designed to provide Catholic education on the secondary level which the founders deemed as needed by the community during that time. As a result, it became the pioneer Catholic co-educational high school in Angeles town. Holy Angel Academy took in 78 students as its first batch of enrollees.

In 1948, Holy Angel Academy catered to the needs of working students by opening evening sessions for high school. In that same year, the school established the tertiary department composed of the College of Commerce, Liberal Arts, and Junior Normal College.

In 1960, due to insistent public clamor, Holy Angel Academy opened its elementary department. A year later, one and two-year Secretarial Courses added and in 1962, the two-year pre-engineering courses. The years that followed saw the establishment of Engineering courses namely Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Industrial Management.

In 1962, Holy Angel Academy became a college with Don Juan Nepomuceno serving as its first President. With the assistance of his son, Geromin, Holy Angel College went through a revitalization of the management. Three years after becoming a College, the Graduate School of Education was inaugurated in order to help teachers within the community achieve professional development.

Soon afterwards, the Vocational/Technical Department followed suit as courses in Industrial Electricity, Automotive Mechanics, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, and Machine Shop Practice was offered. This was in connection to the Manpower Development Program of the nation.

As Holy Angel College continued to grow, the administration deemed it fit to aim for universityhood. In December 1981, Holy Angel University was born with Engr. Mamerto Nepomuceno assuming the position of University President. Archbishop Oscar Cruz declared Holy Angel University as a Catholic university.

In August 1985, Sister Josefina Nepomuceno, OSB took over as President of Holy Angels University. Under her leadership, new courses were added to the curricular offerings such as AB in Sociology and Religious Studies, two-year courses in Computer Science and Theater Arts, BSBA Major in Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship; BS Education major in Values Education, Physical Education, Library Science, and Health and Music; Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Associate courses in Medical Secretarial and Computer Science.

Recently, MA in Education majoring in English Teaching, Mathematics and Library Science, and College Teaching were added to the Graduate School courses of Holy Angel University. The Ph.D. in Management and Master's Degree in Public Administration are awaiting the approval of the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports.

In 1995, Holy Angel University became the first school in Region 3 to be accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). Under the leadership of Mrs. Bernadette Nepomuceno, Holy Angel University inaugurated its new course offerings namely Bachelor of Science Major in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Computer Science, and BSSA in Travel Management and Computer Secretarial.

Holy Angel University is located at Sto. Rosario Street in Angeles City, Pampanga. Holy Angel University is among the educational institutions which has deregulated tuition fees in Region III. Thus, they are exempted from the issuance of any Special Orders when it comes to tuition fees.
