Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City - Philippines

The ability of a hospital facility to serve the residents around it will only be as efficient as long as the equipment is upgraded. A good example of this is the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City.

Location and Contact Numbers

The hospital can be found at Visitacion St. which is in Barangay Pampang in Angeles City. The telephone numbers are 045-322-4495 and 045-322-1222. If you are headed to the area, do not be surprised if some people still refer to it as Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA), because that was its name until 2005. So if you are going there and ask for directions, do not be confused if someone refers you to Ospital Ning Angeles, because the two are the same.

History

The Ospital Ning Angeles was established way back in 1965, and it was meant to be a government hospital for the poor. While it was able to do its job, it would suffer degradation over time, and would lead to the rebuilding and rechristening to the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center.

The process of rebuilding the hospital was not easy, but through the efforts of Medical Director Froilan Canlas, donations for equipment and tools were acquired from a number of sources, including Ed Artis from the Knightsbridge International. It did not take long before a substantial amount over Php 30 million worth- of equipment were put in place for the hospital.

The reconstruction of the hospital was not limited to the adding of equipment and paraphernalia; the edifice itself was being upgraded, the process of which began in 2005. As the main portion of the reconstruction was finished, (resulting in the addition of dozens more beds, with the hospital now having over a 150), the name was changed to Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center.

The process of adding equipment is actually ongoing, which has resulted not just in the addition of more services for the patients, but also in the general improvement of the edifice. Among the areas that have been improved are the foyer and bathrooms, and so have the equipment in the emergency rooms, which can now handle various types of medical situations. Other areas that have been improved are the operating rooms, and the addition of 10 private rooms.

The facility continues to get better and is in many ways better able to handle emergency situations than other hospitals around the province. With the continued support of its donors, the future prospect of the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center will only get brighter and bigger.
